FIELD OF THE INVENTION: This invention relates to computer systems, and more particularly to creation of information models for managing a distributed information system. The invention has particular utility for creation and maintenance of enterprise information systems.

ABSTRACT: An active information model constructed from an aggregation of personal information portals containing an active agent. In a preferred embodiment, the system of this invention can be offered as a network service providing for information access and exchange according to the individual users’ preferences.

SUMMARY: This invention includes an active information model constructed from an aggregation of personal information portals containing an active agent. In a preferred embodiment, the system of this invention can be offered as a network service providing for information access and exchange according to the individual users' preferences. The advantages of the system include the ability of users and organizations to deploy best of breed information services in an integrated information system that is created and managed by the business management, based on the needs of the business and preferences of the individual users. This combination of features permits the organizations to provide information services to their employees through a variety of communication devices as well as personal workstations and terminals.

Embodiments
A system for information access and exchange according to the individual users’ workflow and preferences consisting of network attached compute nodes and storage devices. An individual's access to information is defined and administered within the network to reflect their role, as collection of assignments, activities, services and relation to the sources of the information. The invention further describes an active agent that executes programmed functions on behalf of the user based on user's role and preferences.
An active information model for an enterprise embodied within a network service that provides for information access and exchange according to the individual users’ workflow and preferences. An individual's access to information is defined and administered within the network to reflect their role, as collection of assignments, activities, services and relation to the sources of the information. The invention further describes an active agent to process and exchange information on behalf of the user based on user's role and preferences.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION: This invention relates to computer systems, and more particularly to creation of information models for managing a distributed information system. The invention has particular utility for creation and maintenance of enterprise information systems.

ABSTRACT: An apparatus includes a computerized appliance connected to a network, a physical processor in the computerized appliance, a data repository coupled to the computerized appliance, and coded instructions executing on the processor from a non‐transitory medium, the coded instructions providing a stand‐alone executable active agent comprising: one or more specifically‐ defined actions executable by the active agent, one or more specifically‐defined commands by which individual ones of the one or more specifically‐defined actions may be initiated, rule sets associated with individual ones of the specifically‐defined actions, the rule sets imposing conditions upon initiation and/or performance of the actions, and one or more interactive configuration interfaces through which actions, commands, and rule sets may be defined, related, and edited.

SUMMARY: The following is a statement of reasons for the indication of allowable subject matter: None of the prior art of the record teaches or fairly suggests all the claimed limitation, especially the limitations of an interaction interface for configuring, relating and editing actions, command, and rule sets; the specifically‐defined actions executable by an active agent; the specifically defined command by which individual ones of the specifically‐defined action may be initiated; rule sets associated with individual ones of the specifically‐defined action, the rule sets imposing conditions upon initiation and/or performance of the actions.

The invention further describes an active agent that executes programmed functions on behalf of the user based on user's role and preferences. Users may invoke an active agent manually or specify the rules, actions, and conditions under which active agents are invoked through an interactive interface. The functions of active agent may involve invoking programs, moving information, or interacting with other active agents to instruct those active agents to invoke programs or move information upon certain conditions and according to predetermined rules or upon specified external conditions.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION: The present invention is in the field of network communication including resource sharing and notification and pertains particularly to a distributive and dynamically scalable user‐centric network system enabling communication and resource‐based task performance using communication channels that are dynamically harmonized for user preference, enterprise policy, and modality.

ABSTRACT: A computer network processor for managing information access, exchange, and interaction over a communications network has at least one input port for receiving input from the network, a first portion of memory for storing an operations framework, the framework supporting an information model including attributes and at least one communications system interface, a second portion of memory for caching information; and at least one interface to a at least one communications interface. The processor performs role‐based task execution and related workflow based in part on defined attributes of the information model and in part on instruction solicited from a user through the at least one communications interface.

SUMMARY: The inventors provide an improved network‐based information access and delivery system that may be distributed across multiple independent enterprise departments or between multiple distributed information systems and communications services.

Embodiment
A distributed real time information management system consisting of a collection of network accessible servers with specific functions, generic servers, and storage devices containing programs for one or more "departments". The invention identifies "harmonizing appliances" that control communication and data exchange among the servers upon receiving some form of trigger events, by pointing the generic servers to the appropriate programs for users and their departments.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION: This invention relates to computer and communication systems and more particularly to delivery of electronic mail (email) and other forms of electronic messages over the public switched and wireless telephone networks.

ABSTRACT: An interactive, voice enabled email message notification and alert system [10] and method are disclosed. The system [10] relates to computer and communication systems and more particularly to delivery of electronic mail and other forms of electronic messages over the public switched and wireless telephone networks.

SUMMARY: The Interactive Voice Enabled Email Notification and Alert system of present invention, which is also referred to herein as IVEENA™ (IVEENA is the trademark owned by Corybant, Inc. under which the service described herein is offered to consumers), is a software system that provides a crossover mechanism, for a specific purpose of enabling a single individual (1) to receive email messages and other forms of electronic notification over any telephone, (2) to redirect these notifications and associated electronic documents to a different destination (such as a fax machine), and (3) to respond to these messages immediately.

Embodiment
A networked based system that receives trigger events and delivers personalized information according to customer specific parameters within and among communication and information networks
